On Friday 13 November the whole of Whitton School went all out in order to raise as much money as possible for the BBC's 'Children in Need' appeal. Head Girl, Esme Ferne led the day which was jam packed with a whole host of activities. All students donated £1 to the charity to come to school in mufti, lots of students were also sponsored to come in fancy dress, be tied to a friend all day and the teachers' favourite, being sponsored to be silent! At break there was a cake sale and several raffles and guessing games. It wouldn't be Children in Need without the annual 'W Factor'. A record number of students took part this year from all the Year Groups. Our host for the afternoon was Year 11 student, Salim Olila who whipped the crowd into an frenzy and kept the whole event running. The panel of judges comprised of a very mean and moody Mr Cahill, a much more positive Ms Boyle and a fair Ms Morley, Faye Stone a pervious winner of the W Factor who now attends the BRIT School was also there to offer advice. The talent from everyone was impressive and it was a tough decision for the judges. Year 7 students won the top three prizes, third place went to Victoria Read, second to Alice Guy and the winners were street dancers Bilal Siddiqui and Ramiz Timmerman. A great day was had by all and a special thank you must go to Mr Cooper, Esme Ferne and her team who organised the entire day.
