VISIT TO SWEDENOn Wednesday 24 March Abbie Prior 10R, Shahrukh Khan 9W, Adam Amory 8L and Alice Roberts 7R set out on a fact finding trip to the Kunskapsskolan School in Nykoping, Sweden, accompanied by Mr Cooper and Mrs Bridges. The party was joined by six students and one teacher from Hampton Community College. The students spent the two days with their Swedish counterparts, where they were introduced to the Kunskapsskolan method of learning which is based on the principle that all students are different and learn in different ways and at different rates. This is achieved by making the individual student responsible for their own learning. Students plan their work for the day with their personal tutors, goals are set during tutorials and achievements checked at the end of each week. Adam Amory, a Year 8 student from Whitton said “everyone listens and knows what to do” The students spent two days with their Swedish counterparts, going to lessons, tutorials and study times. All ten students were impressed by the learning method and expressed a desire to learn in the same way. Abbie Prior, Year 10, Whitton School said “It’s a brilliant way to learn, you arrange your own day and can spend longer on a subject if you feel you need to.”
